[xep-support] outside/inside without floats?

Hi,

in my documents I print pictures together with picture-legends.

On a right page, the legend should be on the right side of the picture.

On a left page, the legend should be on the left side of the picture.

The legend must be placed in region-body, neither in region-start nor in region-end.

Under normal circumstances I would realize this by using <float float="inside">.

But in my case I am already using <float float="before"> and

<float> as a child of <float> is not allowed.

Is it possible to realize inside/outside without using <float float="...>?

Kind regards
