    Hello Lee,

    First of all let's make sure we use the same terminology. When I was
    talking about non-embedded fonts I referred to those that have
    attribute embed="false" in their configuration inside fonts.xml -
    such fonts would not be embedded into resulting PDF. However it
    does not matter if those fonts are from an Adobe Acrobat CJK pack or
    not.

    If you see the problem with fonts that have embed="true" in their
    configuration I would like to receive minimal test document (off-list)
    together with your fonts.xml and font file.
