Joakim,

Just another quick thought, since you are processing the file with
XSLT why not use XPath to select the a preceding sibling of type xep:font?
From the quick look I had at the .at file of one of my documents, it would
seem a relatively easy XPath expression.

Just my 2 cents worth - but I'm almost sure I've missed the point :(
