[xep-support] Fonts, diacritics

I am using a third-party font (Sabon, from LinoType supplied as a
TrueType file) and my documents use a number of characters from the
Latin Extended A set - characters with cedillas, dotted, dotless, etc.
These are not appearing when using XEP v4.

My question is this: if the glyphs for these characters are not present
in the supplied font, can XEP use combining diacritics to construct the
required glyph? Is there some setting for that, or must I add
something to the FO document to make that work?

TIA,
Steve Ball
