There are multiple options here from simple to more complex to future ....
1) Why not format the slides followed by the notes?
2) Why not save the whole file as XEPOUT and then on demand either format
only the slides or use a two-up style combination (see my previous CoolTool
for n-up formatting) to create Slides+Notes?
3) As a similar example to (2), you could format the presentation to
individual PDFs (just format each XEPOUT page separately) and write a simple
XSL that takes them and makes a single document (for slides only) or one
that makes Slides+Notes by including each PDF page as an image. you should
also note that this same technique would work without going to PDF as XEPOUT
is supported as an input image format.
4) You could use Javascript to display notes in a textbox on mouseover.
RenderX supports insertion of Javascript into PDF.
5) You could easily post process a PDF to add comments using a tool like
iText. We have done many integrations between the two products. Like the
white paper on our web site that shows stamping form fields into a PDF --
although this is not needed now as we already support form fields.
6) We do have it in the development schedule to add support but that is not
immediate and we have delayed it slightly for ....
7) You could use interactive Flash to accomplish the entire thing as we are
working toward a release to support interactive flash in PDF ... but of
course you would need the interactive Flash widget to insert into the PDF.

Subject: [xep-support] PDF notes
Hello Everyone,
is there any plan to support Notes feature in PDF? Or is there another
possibility to include text which is not visible by default
(collapsed/hidden), but shown on the specified user action?
I am creating slides-like output and notes feature of PowerPoint is missing
to me. I don't want to store two version of my document with these notes and
without them...
Thanks in advance for any hint.
Regards,
Jan
