Such queries are not possible in XSL-FO. XSL-FO is processed at a
distance from XSLT. There is no feedback loop to communicate
formatting position or information back to the transformation process.
If you describe your layout objective instead of describing a
particular functionality then perhaps someone on the board can
suggest an XSL-FO-based approach to achieve your layout objective.
