Hi Ronald,

The problem is that Acrobat Distiller doesn't insert 'toUncode' CMap
stream into its PDFs.

'toUncode' CMap stream contains the information context of text. This
is need, for example, during searching, indexing, and exporting text
to another application.
For technical details, see PDF Reference Third Edition (1.4), Section
5.9 "ToUnicode CMaps".

ToUnicode CMaps are required for all TrueType fonts organized by
the common method (i.e. as CIDFont Type2). XEP uses this very method.

I guess that PDFs created with Adobe's products have some special
internal organization of used fonts. In such a case 'Search' option
may work even without ToUnicode CMaps.
