OK, this is for the XSL working group. Define semantics, computation
rules, and keep in mind that thin space is 1/5em for most european
scripts, but occasionally is 1/6em, but for French, thin space is
1/8em. Hair space is 1/10..1/16 and depends on the will of the font's
author.

With the current vague rules, it only leads to incompatibilities,
while by translating typographic spaces into leaders at the
transformation stage, you get what you need, and you don't need a
standards committee to vote on the issue.
