That does indeed seem to solve our problem, temporarily, but in fact
the XEP documentation specifies for most processing instructions,
including bleeds and crop marks, that they should appear *before* the
root element.

Alexander, is there any way to send XEP processing instructions that
appear before the root element of a DOMSource?
